GALNT12는 UDP-GalNAc:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferases (EC 2.4.1.41) 계열의 단백질로, UDP-GalNAc로부터 N-acetylgalactosamine(GalNAc)을 폴리펩타이드 수용체의 하이드록실 아미노산으로 전달하여 뮤신형 O-연결 단백질 당화의 초기 단계를 촉매합니다 (Guo et al., 2002 [PubMed 12135769]).
