This antibody has specificity for Human Angiotensinogen/SerpinA8.
Target Information
The protein encoded by AGT (angiotensinogen precursor) is expressed in the liver and cleaved by renin in response to lowered blood pressure. The resulting angiotensin I is further cleaved by angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) to generate the physiologically active angiotensin II.
This protein plays a key role in maintaining blood pressure and is involved in essential hypertension and preeclampsia. Mutations in this gene are associated with susceptibility to essential hypertension, renal tubular dysgenesis, non-familial structural atrial fibrillation, and inflammatory bowel disease.
