Target Information
Ubinuclein 1 (UBN1) is a ubiquitously expressed, evolutionarily conserved protein that binds to proliferation-promoting genes repressed by formation of senescence-associated heterochromatin foci (SAHF). It associates with various transcription factors and histone methyltransferase activity, playing an indispensable role in SAHF formation and regulation of senescence. Although generally localized to the nucleus, in cells forming tight junctions it is recruited to cell adhesion complexes depending on cell density.
