This antibody detects endogenous levels of total CCL19.
Target Information
CCL19, also known as MIP-3 beta (Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 3 beta), is a member of the CC-subfamily of chemokines. It is closely related to CCL21, sharing 32% amino acid sequence homology. Both CCL19 and CCL21 are expressed mainly by stromal cells in T cell-rich zones of lymph nodes and play key roles in:
- Homeostatic trafficking of naive T cells and activated dendritic cells into secondary lymphoid organs
- T cell priming and activation
- Recruitment of lymphocytes to inflamed tissue
They signal via the G protein-coupled receptor CCR7, expressed on T cells and mature dendritic cells. While both ligands bind CCR7 with similar affinity, only CCL19 binding induces receptor desensitization and internalization.
