The Non-Human Primate IL-5 Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures IL-5 protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, allowing users to create custom multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the sandwich ELISA principle, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of a protein to quantify multiple protein targets simultaneously using a Luminex instrument. These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, and yield analyzed results in approximately four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single sample. The Luminex beads are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores, creating spectrally unique signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Similar to a sandwich ELISA, the assay uses matched antibody pairs to identify the protein of interest. Each spectrally unique bead is labeled with antibodies specific for a single target protein, and bound proteins are identified with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE). The conjugation of antibodies to distinct beads enables simultaneous analysis of multiple targets in a single well.

Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a bead and not adsorbed to the microplate well, allowing reagents to remain free-floating in solution. Detection is performed using two lasers—one distinguishing each bead’s spectral signature and the other quantifying RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration. This enables profiling of more targets with less sample in the same time frame as a conventional ELISA.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available for multiple species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine).
