Target Information
JAKMIP1 (also known as Marlin-1) is a vertebrate-specific microtubule-associated protein involved in JAK1 signaling and microtubule cytoskeleton rearrangements. It is predominantly expressed in neuronal and lymphoid cells, colocalizing with microtubules. Multiple isoforms exist:
- Isoforms 1 and 5 are expressed in liver, lung, and skeletal muscle.
- Isoforms 2–4 are expressed in brain and retina.
JAKMIP1 participates in polarized secretion in lymphocytes and may act as an effector memory gene restraining T cell-mediated cytotoxicity. Dysregulation of JAKMIP1 is associated with autism-related genetic conditions in humans.
