Target Information
The CCR9 protein is a member of the beta chemokine receptor family and is predicted to be a seven-transmembrane G protein-coupled receptor. Chemokines and their receptors regulate thymocyte migration and maturation under normal and inflammatory conditions. Its specific ligand is CCL25, and CCR9 is differentially expressed by T lymphocytes of the small intestine and colon, suggesting a role in thymocyte recruitment and immune specialization in the gastrointestinal tract. The gene is mapped to the chemokine receptor gene cluster region, with two alternatively spliced transcript variants described.
