Target Information
DAP12 is a transmembrane adaptor protein non-covalently associated with several cell surface receptors on natural killer (NK), myeloid, and possibly neuronal cells. It contains an ITAM domain that recruits the protein tyrosine kinase Syk to initiate signal transduction. Deficiency of DAP12 leads to reduced antigen presentation by myeloid cells, impaired NK cell receptor function in mice, and presenile dementia and bone cysts in humans.
