Target Information
In humans, ZIM2 and PEG3 (GeneID: 5178) are distinct genes sharing a set of 5′ exons and a common promoter, both paternally expressed. Alternative splicing connects these shared exons with unique exons specific to each gene — 4 for ZIM2 and 2 for PEG3. In contrast, mouse and cow ZIM2 and PEG3 do not share exons, and ZIM2 imprinting is not conserved across mammals. Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding the same protein have been identified for human ZIM2.
