Target Information
Neurofilaments contain three intermediate filament proteins — NEFL, NEFM, and NEFH — involved in maintaining neuronal caliber. NEFH plays a critical role in mature axons, distinct from the smaller NF proteins. These may also cooperate with PRPH and INA to form neuronal filamentous networks.
