Target Information
The RAD23A gene encodes a small iron-sulfur protein involved in electron transfer from NADPH through ferredoxin reductase to cytochrome P450. This oxidation/reduction system functions in steroidogenic tissues and contributes to bile acid and vitamin D synthesis. The expressed gene is located on chromosome 11q22, with pseudogenes on chromosomes 20 and 21. The protein is found in various tissues and exhibits identical forms across them.
