Background
Lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPAR1) is an integral membrane protein belonging to the EDG receptor family, part of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. It functions as a receptor for lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and mediates various biological processes such as cell proliferation, platelet aggregation, smooth muscle contraction, inhibition of neuroblastoma cell differentiation, chemotaxis, and tumor cell invasion. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene (RefSeq, Jul 2008).
