Target Information
ACCN1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily.
Members of this family are amiloride-sensitive sodium channels containing intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop with conserved cysteine spacing.
This protein may play a role in neurotransmission, and heteromeric association with ACCN3 (variant 1) has been observed to form proton-gated channels sensitive to gadolinium.
