Target Information
Ebola virus is an enveloped, negative-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Filoviridae family. It has a distinctive morphology similar to Marburg virus but lacks antigenic similarity. The genome is a nonsegmented RNA strand. SDS-PAGE profiles show seven structural proteins:
- NP (104K)
- GP (125K)
- L protein (180K)
- VP40 (40K)
- ViPX (35K)
- VP30 (30K)
- VP24 (24K)
GP is the major surface glycoprotein (125K) and the only glycosylated viral protein.
