Target Information
L-plastin is a leukocyte-specific actin bundling protein belonging to the fimbrin family. It contains two actin-binding domains and two EF-hand calcium-binding domains. Upon inflammatory stimulation, it is phosphorylated on a serine residue in its headpiece region. L-plastin is thought to regulate integrin-mediated adhesion in leukocytes and is expressed in most human cancer cell lines derived from solid tumors. Its expression is positively regulated by testosterone in androgen receptor-positive prostate and breast cancer cells via three androgen receptor binding elements in the upstream region of the gene.
