Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related cell surface glycoprotein expressed in association with beta-2 microglobulin. It is found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, interdigitating cells, and certain T-cell malignancies.
CD1a participates in lipid and glycolipid antigen presentation to T cells and forms heterodimers with beta-2 microglobulin. The CD1 gene family (CD1a–e) is located on chromosome 1 and shows variation in subcellular localization and ligand specificity. CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and early endocytic vesicles. Alternatively spliced transcript variants exist but their biological significance remains uncertain.
