Target Information
ITPKA regulates inositol phosphate metabolism by phosphorylating the second messenger inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate to Ins(1,3,4,5)P4. This enzyme controls the levels of various inositol polyphosphates involved in cellular signaling. Its activity is regulated by calcium/calmodulin and protein phosphorylation mechanisms and serves as a substrate for cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase, calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II, and protein kinase C in vitro.
