Target Information
The Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel (VDAC) of the outer mitochondrial membrane is a small, abundant protein found in all eukaryotic kingdoms. It forms a voltage-gated pore when incorporated into planar lipid bilayers. VDAC is a binding site for metabolic enzymes such as hexokinase and glycerol kinase, contributing to mitochondrial metabolic regulation.
VDAC3 specifically facilitates the translocation of adenine nucleotides through the outer membrane.
