Target Information
Imipramine Base is a synthetic tricyclic derivative and antidepressant that enhances monoamine neurotransmission in certain brain areas. It induces sedation through histamine 1 receptor blockage, hypotension via beta-adrenergic blockage, and various parasympatholytic effects. Imipramine has less sedative effect than other drugs in its class and is used in major depression, dysthymia, bipolar depression, attention-deficit disorders, agoraphobia, and panic disorders.
