Target Information
Norepinephrine Transporter (NET, or noradrenaline transporter, NAT) is a monoamine transporter that transfers the neurotransmitter noradrenaline from the synapse back to its vesicles for storage. It also transports dopamine to a lesser degree. Decreased NET levels have been observed in the locus coeruleus of patients with major depression. Cocaine, amphetamines, and many antidepressants such as SNRIs and TCAs act to raise noradrenaline levels. NET gene deficits have been associated with ADHD.
