Target Information

These receptors belong to the large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), each encoded by single coding-exon genes. They share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and mediate G protein–dependent signal transduction of odorant molecules. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. The nomenclature for olfactory receptor genes and proteins is organism-specific.
