AROS는 핵소체 단백질로, 기능은 아직 명확하지 않으나 리보솜 단백질 RPS19와 상호작용하여 rRNA 전사 조절 신호 경로에 관여합니다. AROS의 아미노산 서열은 등전점 11.3을 가지며, 핵소체 위치 신호에 포함된 짧은 폴리라이신 구간 외에는 알려진 기능적 모티프가 없습니다. 기본적으로 대부분의 조직에서 발현되며, 일부 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현됩니다. 인간 AROS 유전자는 염색체 22q13.1에 위치합니다.
