Product Specific Information
- For IHC on PFA-fixed tissues: incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
The inhibin alpha subunit combines with either beta A or beta B subunit to form a pituitary FSH secretion inhibitor. Inhibin negatively regulates gonadal stromal cell proliferation and exhibits tumor-suppressor activity. Serum levels of inhibin reflect granulosa-cell tumor size, making it a potential marker for primary and recurrent disease. In prostate cancer, inhibin alpha-subunit gene expression is suppressed and undetectable in poorly differentiated tumor cells. Expression varies across gonadal and extragonadal tissues, suggesting inhibin functions as both a growth/differentiation factor and a hormone.
