Griffithsin은 혼합 특이성 렉틴으로 항-HIV 활성을 지니며, HIV 외피 당단백질(gp120 등)에 결합하여 세포 내 바이러스 침투를 억제합니다. gp120 결합은 당화 상태에 의존하며, mannose, glucose 및 N-acetylglucosamine에 의해 억제됩니다.
