THAP6 (THAP domain-containing protein 6)은 222개의 아미노산으로 구성된 단백질로, 하나의 THAP-type zinc finger를 포함하며 두 가지 대체 스플라이싱 아이소폼으로 존재합니다.
THAP6 유전자는 약 36,528 염기쌍으로 구성되어 있으며 인간 염색체 4q21.1에 위치합니다. 염색체 4는 인간 유전체의 약 6%를 차지하고 약 900개의 유전자를 포함합니다.
이 염색체에는 헌팅틴(Huntingtin) 유전자와 FGFR-3 유전자가 위치하며, 각각 헌팅턴병, 연골형성 이상증, 무엔케 증후군, 방광암 등과 관련되어 있습니다. 또한 Ellis-van Creveld 증후군, 메틸말로닉산혈증, 다낭신장병 등과도 연관되어 있습니다.
