Target Information
Members of the human serpin family regulate diverse serine and cysteine proteinases involved in fibrinolysis, coagulation, inflammation, cell mobility, differentiation, and apoptosis. Most serpins are secreted proteins found in blood and extracellular fluids, while a subset, the ov-serpins, are intracellular. SERPINB13 (also known as headpin) is a novel serpin underexpressed in squamous cell cancers of the oral cavity and is expressed in normal oral mucosa, skin, and cultured keratinocytes.
