hnRNP DL은 다양한 핵 내 리보핵단백질(hnRNPs) 하위군에 속하며, RNA 결합 단백질로서 heterogeneous nuclear RNA(hnRNA)와 복합체를 형성합니다. 이 단백질들은 pre-mRNA 처리 및 mRNA 대사와 수송에 관여합니다. 일부 hnRNP 단백질은 핵과 세포질 간을 이동하며, 특유의 핵산 결합 특성을 가집니다. hnRNP DL은 두 개의 RRM 도메인을 가지며 RNA와 결합합니다. 세 가지 대체 스플라이싱 전사체 변이가 보고되었으며, 그 중 하나는 nonsense-mediated mRNA decay로 인해 번역되지 않을 가능성이 있습니다. 이 단백질의 아이소폼은 HNRPD와 유사합니다.
