Target Information
The hnRNP-K gene encodes a member of the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs), which are RNA-binding proteins complexed with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. Although mainly nuclear, some hnRNPs shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP-K contains three KH domains that bind RNAs, showing a strong affinity for poly(C). It is also implicated in cell cycle progression. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, though not all are fully characterized.
