Antibody detects endogenous levels of Acetyl-Histone H4 only when acetylated at Lys5.
Target Information
Histones are basic nuclear proteins responsible for nucleosome structure in eukaryotic chromatin. Each nucleosome consists of an octamer of core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) around which approximately 146 bp of DNA is wrapped. The linker histone H1 interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes, aiding in chromatin compaction. The H4 gene is intronless, encodes a histone H4 family member, and contains a palindromic termination element instead of a polyA tail. It is located within the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6.
