Target Information
Childhood and adult obesity have increased dramatically in recent decades, influenced by both environmental and genetic factors. KCTD15 has been identified as a genetic locus associated with higher than normal body mass index (BMI) in humans, along with genes such as GNPDA2, MTCH2, FTO, and TMEM18. Studies on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) indicate that FTO is most strongly associated with obesity, while MTCH2 and GNPDA2 also show significant associations. At least two isoforms of KCTD15 are known to exist.
