Target Information
The 14-3-3 eta (YWHAH) protein belongs to the 14-3-3 family, which mediates signal transduction by binding to phosphoserine-containing proteins. This conserved family is present in both plants and mammals. The human protein shares 99% sequence identity with mouse, rat, and bovine orthologs. The gene contains a 7 bp repeat sequence in its 5' UTR, and variation in this repeat number has been linked to early-onset schizophrenia.
