Target Information
Lutheran blood group glycoprotein (BCAM) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and serves as a receptor for laminin. It contains five extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a single transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail. BCAM may play roles in epithelial cell cancer and vaso-occlusion of red blood cells in sickle cell disease. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
