Target Information
Functions as a fatty acid monooxygenase. Catalyzes hydroxylation of fatty acids at omega-1, omega-2 and omega-3 positions. Shows activity toward medium and long-chain fatty acids (C12–C16), including lauric, myristic, and palmitic acids. Also metabolizes these to secondary and tertiary products. Exhibits marginal activity toward short-chain fatty acids (C8–C10). Hydroxylates highly branched fatty acids involved in membrane fluidity regulation. Displays NADPH-dependent reductase activity enabling electron transfer from NADPH to the heme iron of the cytochrome P450 domain. Involved in inactivation of quorum sensing signals by oxidizing acyl homoserine lactones (AHLs) and acyl homoserines (AHs).
