Platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)는 혈청에 존재하는 주요 유사분열 인자로서, 혈액 응고 과정 중 활성화된 혈소판의 알파 과립에서 분비됩니다. PDGF는 A와 B 두 가지 구조적으로 관련된 펩타이드 사슬의 이합체 조합으로 존재하며, PDGF-AA, AB, BB의 세 가지 이소형이 있습니다. 이들은 α 및 β 두 종류의 수용체를 통해 세포 성장과 분화를 조절합니다.
PDGF는 결합조직 세포(피부 섬유아세포, 교세포, 평활근세포 등)의 강력한 유사분열 인자이며, 섬유아세포, 평활근세포, 호중구, 단핵세포 등에 대한 화학주성 인자로도 작용합니다. 또한 PDGF는 신경세포 생존 및 재생, 교세포 증식과 분화에도 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
