Target Information
Apolipoprotein A4 (ApoA-IV) is a plasma protein that becomes an O-linked glycoprotein after proteolytic processing. ApoA4 is a major constituent of HDL and is also found on the surface of newly synthesized chylomicrons.
Although its physiological function is not fully understood, in vitro studies suggest that ApoA4 is involved in several steps of the reverse cholesterol transport pathway, which transfers cholesterol from peripheral cells back to the liver.
