The monoclonal antibody CB30 recognizes human CD66e, also known as CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) and CEACAM5.
CD66e is a large GPI-linked glycosylated protein (~200 kDa), expressed mainly on epithelial cells and various tumors of the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and genitourinary tracts. It functions in cell adhesion and migration through homophilic and heterophilic interactions with NCA (CEACAM6/CD66c). Overexpression correlates with tumor invasiveness, making it a useful clinical marker.

Target Information
CEA (Carcino Embryonic Antigen, CD66e) is synthesized during fetal gut development and re-expressed in intestinal carcinomas and other tumors.
CEA belongs to the immunoglobulin supergene family, comprising one N domain and six immunoglobulin constant-like domains.
Antibodies to CEA help identify the origin of metastatic adenocarcinomas and distinguish pulmonary adenocarcinomas (CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely CEA+).
CEA family members include cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins located within a 1.2 Mb cluster on chromosome 19.
The encoded protein mediates cell adhesion via homophilic and heterophilic interactions, contributing to tissue structure, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune modulation.
Multiple transcript variants exist, though full-length forms are not fully defined.
