Adapter or scaffold protein involved in multiple cellular processes such as cell fate determination, cytoskeletal organization, gene transcription repression, cell-cell adhesion, differentiation, proliferation, and migration.
Positively regulates microRNA (miRNA)-mediated gene silencing and negatively regulates the Hippo signaling pathway by antagonizing YAP1 phosphorylation.
Acts as a transcriptional corepressor for SNAI1 and SNAI2/SLUG-dependent repression of E-cadherin transcription.
Functions as a hypoxic regulator by linking prolyl hydroxylases and VHL for efficient HIF1A degradation.
In podocytes, contributes to actin regulation and foot process architecture, shuttling into the nucleus during injury to repress WT1-dependent transcription and alter gene expression.
Also involved in basal body organization, cilia growth, and positioning.
