Target Information
WW domain-containing proteins are found in all eukaryotes and play an important role in regulating cellular functions such as protein degradation, transcription, and RNA splicing.
WWP1 encodes a protein with four tandem WW domains and a HECT domain, belonging to the NEDD4-like family of E3 ubiquitin ligases. These molecules regulate protein trafficking decisions, including targeting of proteins to proteosomes or lysosomes.
Alternative splicing generates at least six transcript variants, though the full-length nature of these transcripts has not been defined.
