Target Information
ACCN1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. These amiloride-sensitive sodium channels contain intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop rich in cysteine residues with conserved spacing. The encoded protein may play a role in neurotransmission, and heteromeric association between ACCN1 and ACCN3 (variant 1) forms proton-gated channels sensitive to gadolinium.
