Target Information
SMPD2 catalyzes the conversion of sphingomyelin to ceramide. It also hydrolyzes 1-acyl-2-lyso-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (lyso-PC) and 1-O-alkyl-2-lyso-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (lyso-PAF). The physiological substrate appears to be lyso-PAF.
