Target Information
The Ras p21 family of guanine nucleotide proteins plays a key role in signal transduction and is frequently mutated in human malignancies. Ras proteins (H-, K-, and N-Ras p21) belong to a larger superfamily of related proteins. Members such as Rap1A, Rap1B, Rap2, R-Ras, RalA, and RalB share approximately 50% amino acid homology with Ras. The six mammalian Rho proteins (Rho A, B, C, G, 7, and 8) show about 30% homology and are expressed in diverse cell types. Both Ras and Rho p21 proteins contain a carboxy-terminal CAAX sequence essential for correct localization and function.
