Target Information
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus that causes COVID-19. The virus contains RNA genetic material and structural proteins required for host cell invasion. Once inside the host cell, the viral RNA encodes structural proteins for virus assembly, nonstructural proteins for replication and transcription, and accessory proteins with roles in viral pathogenesis.
ORF6 encodes a viral accessory protein believed to contribute to viral pathogenesis based on similarity to other coronavirus proteins.
