Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box.
F-box proteins are part of the SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
They are divided into three classes:

1. Fbws containing WD-40 domains
2. Fbls containing leucine-rich repeats
3. Fbxs containing various protein–protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

The encoded protein belongs to the Fbws class and contains multiple WD-40 repeats.
It is homologous to Xenopus bTrCP1, yeast Met30, Neurospora Scon2, and Drosophila Slimb proteins.
It interacts with HIV-1 Vpu, connecting CD4 to the proteolytic machinery, and associates with phosphorylated IκBα and β-catenin destruction motifs.
This protein participates in multiple transcriptional programs by activating the NF-κB pathway and inhibiting the β-catenin pathway.
