FKBP6는 단백질 접힘 및 수송에 관여하는 면역조절 관련 단백질군인 immunophilin 패밀리에 속합니다.
FKBP6는 FK506 및 rapamycin과 결합하는 cis-trans prolyl isomerase입니다.
이 유전자는 interferon regulatory transcription factor (IRF) 패밀리의 구성원으로, N-말단의 helix-turn-helix DNA 결합 도메인과 C-말단의 단백질 결합 도메인을 가집니다.
FKBP6 유전자 변이는 Van der Woude 증후군 및 popliteal pterygium 증후군을 유발할 수 있으며, 구개 형성 과정에 관여합니다.
