KISS1 유전자는 흑색종 및 유방암의 전이를 억제하는 전이 억제 유전자로 알려져 있으며, 종양 형성에는 영향을 미치지 않습니다. 이 단백질은 화학주성 및 침입을 억제하여 악성 흑색종의 전이를 감소시킬 수 있습니다. 세포-기질 부착 이후의 세포골격 재조직화 과정 조절에 관여할 가능성이 있으며, kisspeptin 단백질은 GnRH 유도 성선자극호르몬 분비를 촉진하고 사춘기 GnRH 뉴런 활성화를 조절합니다. 말단 엑손의 다형성으로 인해 두 가지 단백질 동형이 생성될 수 있습니다.
