Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits include 4 RNA species and about 80 distinct proteins. The RPL38 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L38E family. It is located in the cytoplasm. Alternative splice variants encode the same protein. As typical for ribosomal protein genes, multiple processed pseudogenes exist across the genome, including one in the promoter region of the type 1 angiotensin II receptor gene.
