Product Specific Information
- For IHC (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD9 antigen is a glycoprotein expressed on the surface of developing B lymphocytes, platelets, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, stimulated T lymphocytes, as well as neurons and glial cells in the peripheral nervous system.
CD9 belongs to the tetraspanin family, which spans the membrane four times. In pre-B cells and platelets, CD9 regulates activation and aggregation, possibly through association with integrin CD41/CD61 (GPIIb/GPIIIa).
It is involved in:
- Cell motility, osteoclastogenesis, neurite outgrowth, myotube formation, and sperm-egg fusion
- Cell attachment, proliferation, and MHC II molecule association on dendritic cells
- Differentiation, adhesion, and signal transduction processes
CD9 expression plays a critical role in suppressing cancer cell motility and metastasis and is considered a metastasis suppressor in solid tumors.
