Target Information
C20orf20, also known as MRG/MORF4L-binding protein or Up-regulated in colon cancer 4 (Urcc4), is a 204-amino acid protein belonging to the EAF7 family.
It localizes in the nucleus and is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex, which is involved in transcriptional activation by acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A.
This modification can alter nucleosome-DNA interactions and promote binding of modified histones to proteins that positively regulate transcription.
The NuA4 complex may be required for activation of transcriptional programs related to oncogene-mediated growth induction, tumor suppressor-mediated growth arrest, replicative senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair.
C20orf20 undergoes phosphorylation and acetylation, with a molecular weight of approximately 25–30 kDa.
