Product Specific Information

Alexa Fluor dyes are among the most trusted fluorescent dyes available today. Invitrogen™ Alexa Fluor 647 dye is a near-infrared-fluorescent dye ideally suited to the 647 nm laser line. It provides stable signal generation for imaging and flow cytometry and is pH-insensitive over a wide molar range.

This dye offers high fluorescence quantum yield and photostability, enabling sensitive detection of low-abundance biological structures. Alexa Fluor 647 molecules can be attached to proteins at high molar ratios without significant self-quenching, resulting in brighter conjugates and more sensitive detection.

The degree of labeling for each conjugate is typically 2–8 fluorophore molecules per IgG molecule; the exact labeling ratio is indicated on the certificate of analysis for each lot.

Usage Note:
Before use, briefly centrifuge the conjugate solution and use only the supernatant to remove aggregates that may cause nonspecific background staining. Optimal antibody dilution should be determined empirically; for most applications, 1–10 µg/mL is suitable.

Target Information

Anti-Chicken secondary antibodies are affinity-purified with well-characterized specificity for chicken immunoglobulins. They are useful for detection, sorting, or purification of specific targets.

Secondary antibodies enhance versatility and sensitivity by enabling multiple detection systems (HRP, AP, fluorescence) and signal amplification, as multiple secondary antibodies can bind to a single primary antibody.

Typically, secondary antibodies are generated by immunizing the host animal with pooled immunoglobulins from the target species and are further purified or modified (e.g., immunoaffinity chromatography, fragmentation, label conjugation) for high specificity.
