Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4) is a serine/threonine kinase (mitogen-activated protein kinase 4) belonging to the STE7 family. It phosphorylates and activates JNK1/2 and p38, preferentially targeting the tyrosine residue of JNKs.
MAP2K4 mediates various physiological and pathophysiological processes, including cellular stress and inflammatory cytokine responses. It plays a role in carcinogenesis; loss-of-function mutations have been observed in lung and pancreatic tumors, while pro-oncogenic roles have also been reported.
